This guide developed by UNICEF ESARO, Common Thread, and IRC sets out practical, rights-based steps for creating and strengthening Child-Friendly Feedback Mechanisms (CFFMs) so children can safely share ideas, concerns, or abuse reports—and see how their input leads to change. Grounded in the Convention on the Rights of the Child and Accountability to Affected Population (AAP) commitments, it emphasizes the importance of children’s voices in shaping programs that affect them. The guide outlines principles, practical steps and innovative tools for making feedback systems accessible, safe and responsive to children of all backgrounds and abilities. It also addresses barriers to participation, offers age- and gender-sensitive approaches, and highlights the importance of closing the feedback loop.
